Over 20 years ago, Pastor Harold Altamirano joined the Oregon Conference pastoral team. On September 17, Pastor Harold accepted his new role directing Oregon Conference Ministerial & Evangelism.

Pastor Harold has served as a church planter, a chaplain, a youth coordinator, and a local church pastor for both English and Spanish speaking congregations. In 2008, he worked to plant the Mosaic church, now known as Crosspoint Adventist Church, alongside a core team of young adults, and in 2022, Pastor Harold led the planting of an English-speaking congregation aimed at reaching second generation latino young adults and families. Both congregations continue their ministries today. He has served as a local church pastor at a number of churches in Oregon and Florida, as a volunteer chaplain for the Hillsboro Police Department in Oregon, and as the Latino Youth Coordinator here in the Oregon Conference for the past four years. 

In 2008, he earned his Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University and completed all four units of Clinical Pastoral Education in 2024. In his service with the Hillsboro Police Department, Pastor Harold focused on domestic violence intervention, death notifications, and officer support. During his time in Florida, Pastor Harold served on the Florida Conference Church Planting Committee as a consultant and coach trained in ACTS church planting modules. He has been a frequent presenter for the North American Division (NAD), the Southern Union, and a number of division-wide youth, young adult, and church planting events.

Pastor Harold has been married to his wife, Belkis, for 31 years and together they have raised two daughters, Alexis and Zoe, who both currently attend Walla Walla University. Alexis is currently studying to become a pastor.

“After a wide-ranging search and on the recommendation of the Search Committee and the Personnel Committee, the Oregon Conference Executive Committee appointed Harold Altamirano as the Director of the Oregon Conference Ministerial & Evangelism Department,” said Oregon Conference President John McVay. “Harold is a seasoned pastor, evangelist, church planter, and chaplain. We welcome his passion for excellence, the drive and preparation he has undertaken in his ministry, and his deep love and investment in the Oregon Conference sisterhood of churches. After the vote, Harold graciously accepted the invitation. His new role begins October 1.”
