Making Decisions for Christ in Gold Beach

Early last year, a quiet visitor appeared one Sabbath at the Gold Beach Adventist Church. Mike Romsa was a local resident whom the church members did not know, but as he returned week by week, they began to get acquainted with him. "I was raised in an Adventist church," he said. He explained he'd started watching Better Life TV, and he felt God's call on his life and the need to reconnect with church. He was encouraged by the warm welcome of the congregation.

The small congregation was pleased to have a new worshiper. It was also learned that Mike ran a local pest control business.

After several months attending, Mike made a surprising announcement: "Although I was raised Adventist, I was never baptized." He asked if he could join the church by baptism. Pastor Barry Kimbrough soon started Bible studies with Mike. As the church began planning to host Revelation Today: The Great Reset, a baptism date was set for Sabbath, February 26. Mike wanted the baptism to happen during the morning Sabbath School hour because he hoped that several of his family members would attend, and he hoped that they would stay for the 11:15 AM evangelistic simulcast live from Sunnyside Adventist Church. Several of Mike's family did attend and they all stayed for the message and potluck.

Mike has enjoyed attending The Great Reset series. Before his baptism, he read his favorite text, Revelation 3:20, and testified of his desire to see God's continuing work in his life.

In her 20s, Barbi Weidle met some Adventists in Grants Pass. When her sister married an Adventist, Barbi began attending church with them. Later she moved to the coast, and she has attended Gold Beach Adventist church for several years. Though she liked the church, she hesitated to get baptized. She enjoyed the fellowship and even provided crafts for kids to do during Sabbath School. Barbi watched with interest the MaxLife programs that aired during the Covid closures. Due to concerns about Covid, she rarely attended church in 2020 and gradually resumed attending in 2021.

When The Great Reset series was planned, she actively invited friends. Barbi especially liked pastor Wes Peppers' messages and was moved by his testimony. When the appeal for baptism was made, Barbi requested to be baptized in Portland at Sunnyside Adventist Church on March 5, along with other candidates. She requested this location because it will make it possible for her relatives to attend who live in the Portland area.

Across 30+ sites around the Conference, more than 80 decisions for baptism have been made already. Please continue to pray for those attending this series as they make decisions for Christ.
