Teacher Appreciation week, which takes place this year from May 8th through May 12th, is a reminder to intentionally show our love and appreciation for the educators who show up day after day for our students.

I got the call on a cool Sabbath morning as I was walking to church. They had already started the song service. I was running late. My wife had taken our only car out early that morning, starting a five-hour trip to pick her brother up from college for his Thanksgiving break. I was about halfway to the church when my phone began to vibrate.

As I reflected on the incredible amount of ministry work done by Oregon Conference pastors each week, I wanted to hear from some local church members about what they appreciated about their pastors, so I reached out and asked.

What will the church look like in 2030, only eight years from now? Who will be serving as pastors, teachers, and administrators as more of our beloved community pillars retire? What will ministry look like in this ever-changing world, and how will we, the church, reach the coming generations with the message of Jesus' love and soon return?
